30 hours childcare deadlines: September, January, April
The three key cut-offs (31 Aug, 31 Dec, 31 Mar) and when to apply to start next term.
There are three key deadlines each year for 30 hours childcare applications. Missing these cut-offs means waiting until the next term to start your funded hours.
Term start dates
The school year has three terms, and each has a specific deadline for applications:
Term start | Apply-by date | When to apply |
---|---|---|
September | 31 August | By end of August |
January | 31 December | By end of December |
April | 31 March | By end of March |
Apply-by dates
You must have your eligibility code before these dates to start funded hours in the next term. Apply at least 2-3 weeks before the deadline to allow for processing time.
Don't miss the deadline
If you miss a deadline
If you miss the application deadline, you have a few options:
- Apply for next term: Submit your application and start funded hours in the next term
- Check for grace period: Some providers offer a grace period if your child already has a place
- Use tax-free childcare: As a temporary measure while waiting for the next term
