DeadlinesApplication

There are three key deadlines each year for 30 hours childcare applications. Missing these cut-offs means waiting until the next term to start your funded hours.

Term start dates

The school year has three terms, and each has a specific deadline for applications:

Term startApply-by dateWhen to apply
September31 AugustBy end of August
January31 DecemberBy end of December
April31 MarchBy end of March

Apply-by dates

You must have your eligibility code before these dates to start funded hours in the next term. Apply at least 2-3 weeks before the deadline to allow for processing time.

If you miss a deadline

If you miss the application deadline, you have a few options:

  • Apply for next term: Submit your application and start funded hours in the next term
  • Check for grace period: Some providers offer a grace period if your child already has a place
  • Use tax-free childcare: As a temporary measure while waiting for the next term

  • Apply by: 31 August
  • Get code by: Early September
